I don’t know what is wrong with the majority of film critics out there but I have to say I loved this movie! Sure, it’s a chaotic mess as many haters have said but this is a war movie plan and simple and war is a chaotic mess.
“Battle: LA” is a full-blown war film from about 10 minutes in till the very end. We get the obligatory character introductions to make us identify with the players as well as make us feel for the loss later on in the film. The loss of becoming a father, a husband, of even becoming a man is felt in this film to a small degree as we are introduced to the men of the marine unit and ultimately experience their fate at the invading force.
To me, it does not matter that the invading force is actually of an alien nature, but it does add a little something extra to the narrative that I enjoy. This movie has to show the most realistic portrayal of an alien invasion from our military’s point of view, from the point of view of a single marine squad sent in to rescue civilians in the planned bombing area.
