20130310_220254Most who walk into our living room, look around with a sort-of awed 20130310_220510reserve. Jason Voorhees is the main theme, with other horror movie stuff taking up the rest of the space, including a Predator bobble-head (the Hulk takes up a lot of space as well). Our collection of Alien and Terminator autographed photos have yet to be put up, with a Machiko-Predator painting in the works to fill the main wall.

It’s all about the snacks!

Hovering around everything I love, in a never quite satisfied way, is the question of food. Behind all I do is the slight panic of when, and where, my next meal adventure will take place. Included in this, and possibly above regular meals, are snacks, which are always appropriate at any non-meal time, including, and maybe most importantly, during game time.

I suppose what kind of game is being played might make a difference in the types of snacks that are most efficient in satisfying all requirements of these two past-times. As I’m typically a console or PC gamer, with virtually zero table-top/card gaming experience, my opinions are based on this. My guess is there would be similar issues with consistent hands on games. Hmmm, maybe I should’ve played more WarHammer. Definitely an easier game to choose snacks around… (more…)

Cynthi Marie, called Cindy by most, didn’t realize, until she didn’t care anymore, that science fiction was for the weirdos. Weaned on Star Wars and Star Trek, she found an even greater love between the pages of Dune and Terry Brooks type epics. Asimov gave her a love of smart fiction, finding herself a fan of techno-thrillers, usually disappointed that there isn’t more techno with the thriller.

With the recent fail of Lucas and the Star Wars franchise, Cynthi has gone back to revisit other loved movies, looking at them with new eyes. Alien and Aliens remain at the top, as well as the Terminator franchise. Predator, more specifically the novels with Machiko Noguchi, have become newly re-found favorites as well. Newly able to watch Fringe, thanks to the wondrous Amazon Prime, has filled the void of television shows to love since Joss Whedon moved to film. (more…)
