This past week we saw the release of the latest DC Animated Direct to Home Theater release “Superman Unbound”. This release is based on the Superman: Brainiac storyline in Action Comics #866-870 by Geoff Johns. Earth is visited by one of Brainiac’s probes that is searching for suitable candidates for Brainiac to archive their knowledge, shrink a city to store it, and then destroy the planet. Supergirl then tells Kal-El after the battle that she knows the probe and Brianiac, it had visited Krypton before it was destroyed and it took the city of Kandor. Her fears that this will happen to Earth, specifically to Metropolis, causes Superman to venture into space to find and confront Brainiac before he comes to Earth. As expected, Brainiac does arrive on Earth, many battle take place, and finally Superman is victorious.
