The Legend of Drizzt is a dungeon crawl table top board game for 1 to 5 players by Wizards of the Coast. I recently got together with a group of gamer friends and finally tore into this game. In about a 4 hour period we unboxed the game, read through the directions, and played the game twice. The basic game play is you have a group of adventurers going through your standard caverns trying to defeat the big bad of the adventure you have chosen. Along the way you have to explore the caverns, deal with the monsters you encounter, and gather up the treasure you discover. There are multiple levels of the game, we played the easiest one both times. (more…)

Last night, Lilith and I (Chris) were up late talking about this article.
If you don’t wanna read the whole thing, the one quote that really upset us was from Joe Quesada from Marvel Comics and he said according to the article:
“…he really doesn’t think there is an actress right now who could carry it, or a character that would work either. I’m thinking I might agree with him on this one actually.” (more…)

I must admit, I am writing this review a lot sooner then I thought I would so soon after writing my review for Space Marine. now this is not a knock against Dead Island, I really thought I would knock out a mission here and there, maybe one or two a day until I could devote some long hours this weekend to really tackle the game. I will admit, I did put the game down for a bit and only rejoined it late last week after finishing Space Marine. But we will get to that, I am getting ahead of myself.
Many of us, myself included, became aware of Dead Island earlier this year with the release of what I believe is one of the best trailers for a video game ever. The images in reverse of a young girl and her family try to fight off a group of zombies in their hotel brought tears to my eyes. And if it did not do the same to you then you must be a heartless bastard and I want you on my team when we have to storm the daycare center when the zombie apocalypse happened for real. And I love that when you start playing the game you see the aftermath of the trailer in one of the rooms you explore in some of the first minutes of the game. (more…)

The end of this year the various gaming companies have begun their relentless assault on my wallet with a total of 5 games I have on pre-order and a sixth that I have succumbed to the realization that I am going to endup borrowing it from a friend. I only have so much cash!
The first of the five was Space Marine! Well, it was a tie since both Space Marine and Dead Island came out on the same day. But given the fact I have Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Dead Rising, Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare, and Call of the Dead for Call of Duty I was pretty zombie’d out. So I picked up Space Marine (I was in the minority for the Gamestop midnight release for sure) and went home and started protecting the Imperium that very night! (more…)

Is the world really how we think it is? Is there a secret great power out there running our lives? Are there only a select few either chosen or wise enough to see through the deception and are able to bring us the truth?
“The Truth Is Out There” is a new documentary by Dean Haglund (of “X-Files” and “The Lone Gunman” fame) about the people front and center of various conspiracy theories on a wide variety of topics. Are we in the middle of an Alien struggle? Is there a New World Order controlling us? “Is big pharma killing us for their love of money? Are just a few of the conspiracies Dean introduces us to. I love Thor! I’ll admit it. Oh, I’m not just talking in the movie. I read the Marvel Comic as a kid and teen, I loved the Simonson years. I devoured the JMS version and cheered when Thor put Tony “Douche-bag” Stark in his place. I even enjoyed the rebooted liberal leaning Ultimate version with all his flaws. I love the Norse mythology especially since I can trace my heritage back to those very people. Something about Thor always appealed to me. So when I heard that Marvel was finally doing a Thor film in preparation for the mega movie cross over that will be the “Avengers” I geeked. (more…)
