Publisher: BOOM!
Rating: PG-13 for violence and blood

Suicide Risk tells the story of a police office, a normal beat cop, inthe world of super powered villains. After an encounter with a group of super villains where many people, cops and civilians both, died and his partner suffers a career ending injury we follow the main character as he deals with feeling powerless in a world of super powers. We see a Leo, a husband and father, dealing with not being the person who can protect those he cares about. And ultimately we see what he is willing to do to become the man who can protect those he loves and those the super powered villains hurt everyday.

Suicide Risk was a great read. Mike Carey crafts a great story for us to follow Leo as he deals with “survivors guilt” after his run in with the super villains and so many lost their lives while he survived unharmed. Casagrande’s art compliments the story and does a great job in the action scenes. In a world where super powers are bought in back alleys and peddled like drugs, Leo makes some hard choices that I can easily understand why he would make them. Suicide Risk is a must read. This is a book that feels like it should be a TV series. (more…)
