Mark’s “Scream 4” review

10 years after the release of Scream 3 we finally have the continuation of the 90’s most popular horror franchise. Unlike the recent returns of Freddy Kruger, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, and Michael Myers this is not a remake but an actual continuation of the series. All of the surviving cast members return along with director Wes Craven and the writer of the first two, Kevin Williamson. Is Scream 4 a cash grab or a much needed injection of energy into the slasher genre?

Scream 4 takes place 10 years after Scream 3. Dewey and Gale are married and living together. Dewey is now the Woodsboro sheriff and Gale has retired from journalism and is suffering what seems to be a midlife crisis. Sydney has been stalker killer free and has written a critically acclaimed book and is on a book tour. Of course her last stop is her hometown and site of the original Woodsboro massacre. It is the anniversary of the original killings and of course Sydney has attracted another serial killer who is out to get her.

Scream: A Retrospective

Last week saw the release of Scream 4, ten years after the release of Scream 3. To get reacquainted with the series I decided to check out the first three on Blu-ray to get myself ready.
